EMDR
I will love the light for it shows me the way, yet I will endure the darkness because it shows me the stars.

EMDR: A Story
Maria knew she had a tendency towards drama in her relationships, but she didn’t know how to stop it.
Her therapist helped her recognize patterns in the childhood experiences that had started it all. Learning that those patterns were due to coping strategies she had developed as a child and adolescent was eye-opening.
She learned to understand and forgive herself for the self-protective strategies she had developed. Like:
- Breaking up with people before they could break up with her
- Not following through on commitments
- Being afraid of intimacy with anyone
- Reacting with anger or withdrawal anytime anything went wrong.
She was just using the tools she had. But the tools that worked when she was a child, didn’t work anymore. With her therapist, she worked to find new tools.
How EMDR Helped Maria
With EMDR, Maria and her therapist uncovered all of her limiting, disempowering beliefs, and she embraced new and empowering ways get her needs met and to help her to evolve into the joyful heart-centered woman she always wanted to be.
Now she trusts the universe to support her, and she trusts herself to listen to her inner guidance.
When she looks back at events that were once disturbing, she is able to say that they were some of her greatest teachers. She is now both humbled and empowered by her newfound freedom. She’s embraced her life – all of it – with grace, and she has found joy in the journey.
EMDR: The Therapy
EMDR or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing – whew, that’s a mouthful! – is a therapeutic process that helps people identify disturbing events and circumstances in their past that are driving current behaviors, reduce the disturbance around those memories and instill new resilient and empowered beliefs and behaviors going forward.
My clients have experienced tremendous relief using the EMDR process and have thanked me for the positive changes in their relationships, improved daily functioning and increased self-confidence.
As a professional, I absolutely love using EMDR to help my clients move forward. I am constantly amazed at the results!
To be clear – I make no guarantees because each person is unique. In fact, it would be unethical for me to promise results from any therapeutic treatment.
My promise to you is this:
I will do my best to help you feel better about yourself and your life.
